The historical Goztepe station was designed as a bridge station by French engineers in the 1900s. Station was built with the entrance hall above and the platforms below. The plan dimensions of the Goztepe Station building are 20 x 12 m and it has 2 floors as the concourse and platform levels. The total height of the building is 15 meters. This is a load bearing masonry structure. Bridge on passage is carried by steel rib beams.

The Marmaray Commuter Rail project, called the project of the 20th century, was connected to each other with a tube tunnel passing under the Bosphorus. Goztepe Station was also located on this line. This project was supposed to increase the number of lines from 2 to 3. For this reason, the bridge station had to be overhauled. In addition, problems such as aging of the structure, material losses, low shear performance, and corrosion of steel bridge beams force us to strengthening of the station.

The building, which was restored by Mehmet and Gul Unal, currently serves as a cultural center. Prota provided structural design and construction supervision. Within the scope of structural design services, Prota provided seismic assessment and damage analysis, restoration and retrofitting design services and preparation of lists of building works, bills of quantities and cost estimates. Prota used seismic isolation technique as a strengthening method.

The restoration of the historical building was completed with great precision in the manufacturing methodology consisting of 10 stages.

Entire design works were completed in 2008 and construction was completed in 2019.

Prota provided services in the concept, preliminary, final and detail stages. Within the scope of the project, Prota’s services include;

  • Seismic engineering design
  • Reinforced concrete and steel design
  • Technical consultancy services
  • BoQ and technical specification preparation services
