The design of Canakkale Biga State Hospital is impressive in its attention to seismic safety. The hospital is comprised of three blocks, with building loads applied according to the architectural design constraints. The building system selected is a slab without beams, with a slab thickness of 35 cm.

To enhance seismic resilience, a total of 280 seismic isolators are used in the building, placed on the columns ascending from the foundation. The design incorporates a specific Design Basis Earthquake (DBE) spectrum with a return period of 475 years and a 10% probability of exceedance in 50 years. Additionally, the spectrum of the Maximum Credible Earthquake (MCE) is used to determine the lateral displacement limits of the isolators.

The objective of the design services for Canakkale Biga State Hospital includes conducting vulnerability assessments and preparing preliminary and final structural designs, cost estimations, bills of quantities, specifications, and tender documents. This comprehensive approach ensures the hospital’s structural integrity and safety, particularly in the event of an earthquake.
