GIRLS VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL RESTORATION-ÇORUM
Architect: Saadet Sayın
Client: T.R. Ministry
of Culture
As consequence of a fire, wooden floors were
completely burnt. For the restoration purpose,
outer masonry walls of the building is preserved
as a whole and a structure made by steel
constructed frame and precast panel floors
is placed inside.
The building is used as a museum. There has
been no connection in the surrounding walls
and the walls are strengthened as receiving
only the vertical loads. Total area of the
building is 5,000 m2.

PRESS YOUTH CENTRE - ANKARA

Ünsal
Client: Ankara Municipality
The purpose of the design is to create a cultural
complex centre by restoration of the vineyard
placed in Ankara Kuloğlu Street. Prota provided
the engineering
and construction supervision services. The area
of the centre is 6,000 m2 .

UŞAKİZADE CULTURAL CENTRE - İZMİR
Architect: Cengiz Kaba
Client: Izmir Private Turk College
The building is converted to a high school and
museum by restorating this wooden/masonry structure.
Retrofitting designs and technical consultancy
services are given by PROTA. The chalet and its
appurtenance, built in 1880, are joined through
underground connections and conference saloons,
exhibition rooms and a cultural centre are formed.
A tunnel is passed through under the old building
and integration is provided between all buildings.
The total construction area of the structure
is around 3000 m2 out of which 1200 m2 is for
old building restoration and renovation, and
1800 m2 is for new buildings. Design services
were performed in 1997.

HISTORICAL SANDAL RESTAURANT RESTORATION PROJECT
- ANKARA

Client: Eski Eserler Genel Müdürlüğü
Renewal and restoration designs of the historical
Sandal Restaurant have been performed by PROTA
in 1998. The masonry structure of the building
has been strengthened by steel structural members
without changing the specific characteristics
and dimensions of the structure.

RETROFITTING PROJECT OF MAUSELAUM – SİDE /
ANTALYA
Architect: Saadet Sayın
Client: Ministry of Culture
Renewal and retrofitting projects
of the Mauselaum placed in the entrance of Antique
Side city,
have been performed by PROTA in 1999. The inner
parts of mauselaum have been covered by chrome-steel
structural bearings and the glasses. This method
has first applied in Turkey developed by PROTA
as an on site preservation technique.

RESTORATION OF SOFULAR DISTRICT –TARSUS

Client: Ministry of Culture
Performance
analysis, strenghtening and retrofitting project
and detailing of Sofular Region in Tarsus,
Damage assessment, In-situ drawings, seismic
evaluation, retrofitting project, details, technical
supervision and consultancy services of the wall
bearing and wooden structured more than 20 houses
in ancient Sofular zone in Tarsus/Mersin. Total
construction area is
7,000 m2 .

RETROFITTING PROJECT FOR AĞCA MOSQUE - ADANA

Client: General Directorate of Foundations
Seismic evaluation, performance analysis, retrofitting
project and detailing of Adana Ağca Mosque, damage
assessment, in-situ drawings, seismic performance
evaluation, retrofitting solutions, detailed
design drawings for retrofits, technical construction
supervision and consultancy services of the oldest
Mosque in Adana. Project was undertaken in 1999.

HARBİYE MILITARY MUSEUM RESTORASYON/RETROFITTING
PROJECT - İSTANBUL

Client: Ministry of Defence
With the purpose of converting the Historical
“Meşkhane” structure to a Museum as well as
general meeting function to be obtained, the
wooden and
steel construction retrofit and strengthening
design details were prepared. Total construction
area is about 2000 m2 and the services were
completed in 1998.

CER ATELIERS / MODERN ARTS MUSEUM - ANKARA
Architect: Semra-Özcan Uygur
Client: Ministry of Culture
Within the scope of the project; former
railway ateliers have been restorated to be used
as the
modern arts museum, in which exhibition halls,
ateliers, administrative offices, workshops and
other technical rooms are included. The total
construction area is 10,000 sq.m. Structural
designs and supervision of construction have
been performed by Prota Engineering in 2001.
Undertaken works include seismic assessment and
damage analysis, preparation of In-situ drawings
as a base for architectural restoration final
design and preparation of related detailed drawings,
detail designs of retrofit systems
for restorations and preparation of necessary
drawings, detail design of load bearing steel
and reinforced concrete structural systems for
renewals and
preparation of related drawings, detail design
for infrastructure, mechanical and electrical
installations, site and neighbourhood planning,
landscaping and access roads, preparation of
lists of building works, bills of quantities
and cost estimates

RESTORATION AND RETROFITTING OF MYRA ANTIQUE
THEATRE WEST PARADOS WALL AND GALLERIES – DEMRE/ANTALYA
Architect: Nejat Üreğen
Client: Ministry of Culture
All details for retrofit designs and and restoration
works including measurements, material analysis,
sensible measurement, 3-D structural analysis,
and detailed drawings have been carried out by
PROTA İN 2001. Various retrofit techniques have
been used in this project.

RESTORATION OF HELLENISTIC TOWERS IN PERGE
ANTIQUE SITE, ANTALYA

Within the scope of the project; damage
assessment, seismic assessment, in-situ drawings,
restitution
and restoration and retrofitting designs have
been prepared for stadium and Hellenistic Towers
in Perge antique Site. Services of PROTA have
been completed in 2002.

GREAT BATH RESTORATION PROJECT – SİDE / ANTALYA

Retrofitting and restoration projects of
Great Bath Structure in Antique Side City
have been performed
by PROTA starting from 2001. For approximately
2000 years old structure, structural analysis
have been done by computer modelling and
in-situ measurements,
earthquake performance analysis, material tests
etc. services have been carried out.

STADION MEASUREMENT, RESTORATION AND RETROFITTING
PROJECT, ANTALYA
Architect: A. Serdar Ceyhan
Client: Ministry of Culture
The Stadion is
one of the important sport structure of the Antique
Contemporary. The in-situ measurements,
restoration and retrofitting designs have been
performed by PROTA. Design and engineering services
have been completed within two years and finalized
in 2002. Retrofit designs had a particular attention
not to demolish the original structure though
the structure has quite significant problems
regarding to stabilization, deformation and putrefaction.

PORT BATH RESTORATION PROJECT – SİDE / ANTALYA

Renewal and retrofitting projects
of Port Bath of Antique Side city have been
performed by PROTA
in 1999. Design and engineering services include
structural system modelling, earthquake performance
analysis, material tests, chrome-steel designs
for retrofitting purposes and so on. The total
area of the structure is 1,500 m2.

RETROFITTING PROJECT OF THE WALL OF THE BATH
PERGE/ANTALYA

Hidden hanging system
has first been used in Turkey on the wall where
the entrance door of
Great Bath exists. The structure had stabilization,
deformation and putrefaction problems at significant
level . By using such a system, the original
position and characteristics of the structure
could be dramatically preserved. The upper
parts have been hanged up by steel girders.
The lowest
parts have disjointed and restorated by retrofitting
without changing the original characteristics.
These services have been performed in 2000.
